There is a significant collection of titles that covers the ‘je ne sais quoi’ of Parisian women. They have an ineffable insouciance about them that has penetrated the collective imagination in a significant way. They’ve resurrected the cool eccentricity of the English, the casual elegance of the Americans and the colorful artsy style of the Italians. Yet somehow Spanish bohemian bag and accessories brand, Guanábana, has managed to arrange for all of these iterations to land on the same page.
After making their debut at Free People, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, this spring-summer 2016 Guanábana is launching corner stores at emblematic department stores Le Bon Marché and Merci – unquestionable shopping destinations for true fashionistas. These new retail temples join the ranks of their online store that ships all over the world and the assorted points of sale that the brand already had in Japan, Korea, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Austria…
Guanábana, which shows at Parisian trade shows like Who’s Next and Maison & Objet or Cabana and Designers and Agents in the United States, has transformed its original Wayuu bags into icons. Designed by the brand’s founder, Almudena Espinosa, and hand knit in Guajira, Colombia, they stand out because of the rich colors and textures of their exclusive patterns.
Their hats are made with natural Iraca palm that implements a specific artisanal process. In order to create the different models of Guanábana bracelets, miyuki beads from Japan, semiprecious stones and palm leaves are used, which are then color enhanced through the use of natural dyes extracted from seeds.
