William Penhaligon began his career creating fine fragrances and grooming products for men at the exclusive salon in the Hammam baths on Jermyn Street. William opened his first barbers in 1870 on St James's Street, London, quickly building a reputation across London and the globe for his 'high quality ingredients and innovative preparations'. When his son Walter took over the business following William's death in 1902 it went from strength to strength and grew to incorporate ladies fragrances, earning a first Royal Warrant in 1903. Celebrating this barbershop heritage Penhaligon wanted to mark your 145th Anniversary by creating a brand new men's cologne and grooming range, named after the address of the first Penhaligon's shop on St James's Street; No. 33. Penhaligon No. 33. The Eau de Cologne, an aromatic love note to lavender. No.33 opens with a burst of citrus in the top notes, shot through with warming pepper, ginger and cardamom at the heart and underlined with the sweetness of amber and vanilla coupled with the smokiness of tobacco and cedar in the base. Manly, innovative and invigorating. Top Notes: Bergamot, Orange, Grapefruit, Armoise, Coriander, Clary Sage, Cypress. Heart Notes: Lavender, Violet, Black Pepper, Ginger, Jasmine, Rose, Muguet, Geranium, Saffron, Cardamom Base Notes: Amber, Vetiver, Musk, Moss, Tobacco, Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Cedarwood Penhaligon No. 33. It was particularly important to incorporate lavender in this new fragrance, as it has been an ingredient that has punctuated many of our most popular and enduring scents, including the original, Hammam Bouquet. No.33 is also the first of your fragrances to be housed in a new shape bottle, still retaining the now inconic silhouette but reinvented for your anniversary, it is inspired by a hip flask, satisfyingly tactile in a flatter design.
